I guess it's better than 600...

Currently the server is up, but due to the heavy load, requests to upload a TW are timing out. Apologies for this continued outage.

Dreamhost Still Down?

posted by simon on Monday, June 25, 2012

I'm quite shocked at this. This update is supposedly three hours old:
Update: Unfortunately, the load at this time is quite high, but our admin team continues to monitor the CPU load on the server and work to make sure it remains as low as possible throughout the restore. We were able to bring back the old physical machine, but it isn't stable enough at this time. Because of the load, this will cause some extreme slowness and possible downtime. We are sorry again for the downtime this has caused, and will make sure to continue to keep you updated with any new information we receive.
I guess we need a new host.

Tiddlyspot Down Due to Dreamhost Problems

posted by simon on Friday, June 22, 2012

From Dreamhost:
Hello,
Update: unfortunately, due to the state of the backups, even after establishing the connection to the server and restoring your data, you may be experiencing downtime. Despite several attempts, the load is very high on the server, and it's timing out sites. We're rebooting the server to bring the load down. We'll update this notice as soon as it's up again. We continue looking into this, and we apologize for any inconvenience this is causing.
As a reminder:
You are receiving this message because your web hosting services are being affected by hardware maintenance due to issues with your shared web hosting server 'force'.
Due to issues with the RAID controller, we have replaced the hardware for this server and we are restoring all data from our backup server to the new hardware. During this process, the data on the backup server will be mounted directly over NFS to allow your hosting services to remain online for the duration of the process.
There may be periods of high load on the server due to this restoration, which is caused by the large amount of data being sent to the server. We will be closely monitoring the server and mitigating that load wherever possible.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this unplanned maintenance. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Support under Support -- Contact Support, in your Web Panel. This notice will also appear on that page in your Web Panel and will be updated throughout the process with the latest details we can provide.
Please note, this is regarding your web server 'force', and no other servers or services (mysql, email) have been affected.
Thank you for your patience!
The Happy DreamHost Server Fixing Team
